Marble Floor Maintanence

Your stone floors are the first thing your guests and visitors will notice when they enter your office, building or hotel.   Comparatively speaking Marble is a soft stone, with that being the case it is easily scratched and it is also susceptible to acid etching.
More often than not, when a marble surface looks bad, it is as a result of wear across heavy traffic areas and acid etching. An etch is a dull mark that is left on the surface of the stone. The mark is a result of a chemical reaction with an acidic solution. Most often etches look like drops of water that will not clean off or rings from the bottom of glasses.
Floors are very commonly degraded by scratching from foot traffic. Especially in entry ways and hallways that connect high use areas. To get rid of scratches we use the same process used to remove etches. We diamond refinish the surface progressing through grit levels preparing the surface for the desired finish.
Below are a few of the services we offer when it comes to Marble care. The service we will recommend will be dependent on the condition of you marble (if your marble is scratched and how deep those scratches are).

Marble Polishing:
If you marble floors are worn and have some light scratches we recommend a polish which will bring a beautiful shine back to your floors and take out some of the light scratches. Our process is dust free and will help you maintain a Natural and Beautiful look for your floor.

Marble Refinishing:
Marble refinishing is a process that is a bit more time consuming as we will use diamond abrasive pads to cut into the floor. What we are doing is scratching the floor with a diamond abrasive pad.  We then repeat the process with a finer and finer pads eventually bringing the floor to a polished finish. The process will take out major scratches and and etch marks.

Deep Cleaning:
It is standard practice when maintaining marble floors to wet mop on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. What you are doing is mopping microscopic dust pores into grout lines and low parts of the stone.  If you think about it nobody walks in the grout lines or in the pores of the stone, This is the reason these areas get so dirty. When we deep clean your stone floors we use a swing machine and a specially formulated cleaner which allows us to get deep in into the surface.  We then use a wet vacuum to pick up the liquid and then damp mop the surface with clean water and then allow it to dry.
